TapTechNews quoted the official announcement that two subsidiaries, Hitachi Zosen Marine Engine Co., Ltd. and Imex Corporation, were found to have improperly rewritten the engine's land operation records. The parent company has currently established an external expert team to ensure that such situations will not occur again in the future.

Japan's Hitachi Zosen Corporation has currently set up a special investigation committee to thoroughly investigate the facts and causes and review its business management system, stating that it will do its best to prevent such incidents from happening again and restore trust.

According to the investigation, when the engine was test-run in the presence of customers, the fuel consumption rate was tampered with to data that did not conform to the actual value, and there may also be problems with nitrogen oxide emissions.

The announcement said that the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan issued a warning on April 24, 2024, ordering Hitachi Zosen Marine Engine Co., Ltd. to comply with regulations regarding the corporate environment and safety and proper business operations, and then Japan's Hitachi Zosen Corporation launched an internal investigation.

According to the current statistical data, the number of large ship engines involved in data fraud is 1364, of which 950 are for Hitachi Zosen Marine Engine Co., Ltd. and 414 are for Imex Corporation.
