Commissioning and Testing of Sichuan-Qinghai Railway Zhenjiangguan-Huangshengguan Section Completed
TapTechNews August 13th news, The commissioning and testing of the Zhenjiangguan-Huangshengguan section of the newly-built Sichuan Chengdu to Qinghai Xining Railway (hereinafter referred to as the Zhenjiangguan-Huangshengguan section of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway by TapTechNews) has been successfully completed today and officially entered the operation test stage.
This section of the railway is planned to be completed and opened to traffic within the year. By then, the bullet train will set foot on the more than 3,000-meter-high (about 9,842 feet) northwest Sichuan plateau for the first time. From Chengdu to world-famous scenic spots such as Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong, it will also be shortened from the current more than 7 hours of driving to about 3 hours. At that time, the history of no railway in the northwest Sichuan plateau will end, and at the same time, the history of no train from Sichuan Chengdu to Huanglong Jiuzhai will also end.
The Sichuan-Qinghai Railway is an important part of the Lanzhou-Xining-Guangzhou corridor in China's eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed rail network, and it is a national Class I double-track railway; the whole line is constructed in sections. The section from Chengdu East to Qingbaijiang East of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway and the section from Haidong West to Xining have been put into operation in common with the Xi'an-Chengdu high-speed rail and the Lanxin high-speed rail respectively, and the section from Qingbaijiang East to Zhenjiangguan has been opened for operation on November 28, 2023.
Officials pointed out that after the full opening and operation of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway, it will greatly facilitate the travel of people of all ethnic groups along the line, and has very important significance for promoting the economic and social development along the line, maintaining ethnic unity, and serving the large-scale development of the western region.
TapTechNews learned from public information that the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway starts from Chengdu East Station, passes through Chengdu City, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu Province, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Haidong City, Xining City in Qinghai Province, and connects to Xining Station. The main line is about 836 kilometers (about 519 miles) long, and the designed speed is 200 kilometers per hour.
