China's Ministry of Public Security Updates on High-Frequency Household Registration Business and ID Card Services

It has handled more than 4.15 million inter-provincial handling business of household registration migration, and cumulatively replaced and reissued 116 million resident ID cards in different places.

Qiu Baoli, director of the Bureau of Public Security Administration of the Ministry of Public Security, mentioned that as of the end of July this year, China has cumulatively handled more than 2.4 million inter-provincial handling business of household registration certificates, 1.2 million inter-provincial handling of the first application for resident ID cards, and 42.32 million and 73.62 million for the replacement and reissuance of resident ID cards in different places and within the province across cities. In the next step, the Ministry of Public Security will guide all localities to actively respond to the new expectations and requirements of the masses, and on the basis of the full implementation of the national handling of household registration migration, resident ID cards, and temporary resident ID cards, steadily promote the whole-process online handling of high-frequency household registration matters such as the replacement and reissuance of resident ID cards, so that things can be accomplished without leaving home.

In addition, in the next step, the Ministry of Public Security will continue to deepen the reform of the household registration system, and accelerate the connection and integration of the functions of resident ID cards and residence permits. With the citizen ID number as the only identifier, it will accelerate the legal interconnection and sharing of population information resources among departments, realize the aggregation of employment, education and other information, and better promote efficiently completing one thing.

The original online identity authentication methods can still be continued to be used, and users can also surf the Internet normally without using online numbers and online certificates.
