A car owner said that he bought a Nezha car in 2022, and was informed that the insurance premium needs to pay more than 9,000 yuan ($1300) this year, because a large number of vehicles of this brand are used as online ride-hailing cars. The car owner had only one claim last year with a compensation amount of 1,000 yuan ($145), and his vehicle is a non-commercial vehicle, but this year the insurance premium has increased by more than 4,000 yuan ($580), which makes it difficult for him to accept.

According to TapTechNews' understanding, the main models of Nezha cars are in the price range of 100,000-200,000 yuan ($14,500-$29,000), and the corresponding insurance premiums (including vehicle damage insurance, third-party liability insurance of 2 million yuan, passenger insurance and compulsory traffic insurance, etc.) should normally be between 4,000-5,000 yuan ($580-$725). Obviously, the insurance premium quote of this car owner is significantly too high.

The car owner also mentioned that the annual insurance cost of his friend's Tesla Model Y is only about 6,000 yuan ($870), and the value of this car is about 100,000 yuan ($14,500) higher than that of Nezha car, not in the same price range. This makes him even more unacceptable and said if not, I can only change the car.

On platforms such as Xiaohongshu, many Nezha car owners also reported that the insurance premiums have increased significantly, and even some insurance companies refused to quote, and the reasons are mostly that the claim rate of online ride-hailing cars is high and the rate cannot be reduced.

Previously, BYD and GAC Aion also had similar situations, resulting in excessive insurance premiums for non-commercial car owners or being refused to insure by insurance companies due to the high claim rate of online ride-hailing cars.
