Midjourney's Updates Version 7.0, New Features, and Future Plans

TapTechNews September 13th news, the tech media TheDecoder released a blog post yesterday (September 12th), reporting that in the recent OfficeHours event, David Holz, the founder and CEO of Midjourney, shared the latest progress of the current project on Discord and answered the community's questions.

Midjourney Version 7.0

Holz updated the Midjourney Version 7.0 timeline and said it will be released in the next 1-2 months.

Let more people experience Midjourney

Holz said the company is not in a hurry to launch a new AI model, but to improve the ease of use of existing technologies and let the tools deeply integrate into the daily work of professionals.

Nowadays, all users, including those who hope to experience the image AI for free, can operate through the web interface.

New image editor

Midjourney is currently developing an image editor that allows users to edit external images using the smearing and expansion functions.

It is not yet certain whether this function will be integrated into the existing platform or launched as a separate product. The specific timeline of this function has not been announced.

3D system

Holz introduced in a more ambitious project that Midjourney is developing a 3D system that allows users to immerse themselves virtually in AI images.

They did not use polygonal rendering, NeRFs or Gaussian jet techniques, but created a new NeRF-like format.

The team is led by a person who played a key role in the invention of NeRF, which led some to guess that it might be Alex Evans, the former Nvidia researcher who joined Midjourney last year.

Personalized style

The personalized function is also among the new features of Midjourney. This tool aims to deeply understand users' preferences according to user feedback and provide more personalized results. Recently, Midjourney has enabled this function for the Niji model that specializes in anime characters.

Exploring other fields

Midjourney seems to be busy with a series of development work. In addition to the image generation achievements, the company also plans to enter the field of video generation.

TapTechNews reported in August that Midjourney is not only investing in software but also actively laying out hardware R & D.
