The Largest and Most Environmentally Friendly 9100-Car Car Ro-Ro Ship Successfully delivered in China

TapTechNews August 9th news, on the morning of August 8th at around 6 a.m., under the guarantee of the Hai Xun 06916 boat and 3 high-power tugboats, the 9,100-car car ro-ro ship Leino Aurora built by China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. smoothly left the dock and embarked on its maiden voyage, marking the smooth delivery of the currently largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier in the world.

The Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration disclosed that this ship is the first dual-fuel and zero-carbon-ready Aurora-class car ro-ro ship newly built at the China Merchants Industry Haimen base. It is designed by Deltamarin, with a total length of 656 feet (about 199.9 meters), a molded length of 641 feet (about 196.4 meters), a molded width of 123 feet (about 37.6 meters), a molded depth of 47.7 feet (about 14.53 meters), a designed draft of 30.7 feet (about 9.35 meters), a carrying capacity of 9,100 cars, and has an enhanced deck and internal ramp system that can load cars on 14 decks. The top deck of the ship is also equipped with 1,615 square feet (about 1500 square meters) of solar panels, which can save 30%-35% of the electricity for motor production.

In addition, this ship is also equipped with 1 low-speed dual-fuel main engine and 3 dual-fuel generators, can use LNG and conventional fuels, and also has the classification symbols of ammonia fuel-ready and methanol fuel-ready of the Norwegian DNV Classification Society. It is the first type of ship in the field of car carriers that can use carbon-neutral fuels, and has also become the currently largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier in the world.
