JD Logistics to Add Over 100 Air Routes, Expand Next-Morning Delivery

TapTechNews August 27th news, according to the official news of JD Logistics on the evening of August 26th, by the end of August 2024, JD Logistics will add more than 100 new direct air routes in provincial capitals and core cities, and the timeliness of express air parcels in multiple cities will be improved by more than half a day, and the coverage of cross-provincial express next-morning delivery has also been expanded again.

After launching the next-morning delivery service in several core provinces and cities such as Beijing and Shanghai at the end of 2023, this year, JD Logistics has speeded up the timeliness in personal express delivery. In terms of cross-provincial express delivery, JD Logistics invests in all-cargo aircraft and optimizes the route, continuously expanding the scope of air next-morning delivery, and the earliest receipt is at 8 am.

In response to the needs of small and medium-sized merchants, in April this year, JD Logistics launched the direct sorting model, and merchant customers can send goods to the designated sorting center according to their own needs without being restricted by the cut-off time of the station, or JD Logistics will send a special car to pick up the goods.

In the first half of 2024, the total revenue of JD Logistics reached 86.3 billion yuan, an increase of 11.0% year-on-year, of which the revenue from external customers was 59.9 billion yuan, an increase of 11.2% year-on-year, accounting for 69.4% of the total revenue, and the proportion of external revenue further increased compared to the same period in 2023.

TapTechNews learned from the announcement that the operating cost of JD Logistics increased by 7.1% from 72.7 billion yuan in the six months ended June 30, 2023 to 77.9 billion yuan in the same period of 2024. The percentage of operating cost to revenue decreased by 3.4 percentage points year-on-year from 93.5% to 90.2%.
