JetBrains Aqua Officially Released for Test Automation

TapTechNews on May 24th reported that in November 2022, JetBrains launched a new IDE for test automation - JetBrains Aqua, and released a free public preview version.

After a year and a half, JetBrains officially announced the public release of Aqua, supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux versions.

For aqua, the official provides a new licensing model, which includes two plans:

Free personal non-commercial

Paid commercial

If users only use aqua for non-commercial purposes, there is no need to pay the aqua license fee. If users plan to use aqua for commercial purposes, they can purchase a license just like buying other products. However, the pricing of aqua has been simplified to a single Organization license. TapTechNews has learned through inquiry that the pricing is $150 per year.

According to the introduction, aqua is the first IDE specifically designed for test automation. This multi-language IDE supports the main languages used in test automation: Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Kotlin, and SQL. It also supports the main frameworks used for software testing, such as Selenium, Playwright, and Cypress.

Aqua is equipped with a series of out-of-the-box functions. Users can directly test without installing and configuring a large number of plugins. For example, the tool has a built-in Web inspector, debugger, HTTP client for API testing, database support, integration for Docker, and version control system.
