China's First Cross-Border Tourist Train

(referred to as CTG Asset) premiered at Kunming Station on the afternoon of September 24th, marking the official landing of the cross-border train tourism product of the China-Laos Railway.
TapTechNews learned from the official introduction that the Starlight • Lancang-Mekong River No. cross-border tourist train of the China-Laos Railway is operated by CTG Starlight Company under CTG Asset and is designed and renovated by domestic and foreign professional teams. It adopts the leading high-speed rail sound insulation technology and the first comprehensive intelligent information system in China in hardware, and is equipped with a user-friendly intelligent operating system, providing entertainment facilities such as film and television on-demand and interactive games.
The train departs from Kunming, Yunnan, crosses the Tropic of Cancer, passes through the world's natural and cultural dual-heritage city Luang Prabang, and arrives at Vientiane, the capital of Laos, with a 4-day and 3-night itinerary. In addition, the train will provide an all-inclusive service model.
According to the introduction of CRRC Tangshan Company, the train has a total of 12 marshalling, including 8 passenger carriages, 1 dining carriage, 1 multifunctional carriage, and 2 supporting service carriages. This company is an enterprise that started earlier in the transformation of tourist trains in China. In 2021, under the unified arrangement of the Locomotive and Rolling Stock Department of the National Railway Group, CRRC Tangshan Company completed the unified type and drawing work of tourist cars. In 2024, according to the needs of users, CRRC Tangshan Company carried out in-depth research on aspects such as the vehicle layout, sound insulation and noise reduction, and human-machine functions of tourist trains, and transformed 2 passenger cars into tourist prototype cars.
