First 500-Kilometer 5G Remote Pediatric Surgical Single-Port Robot Surgery in China

According to the introduction of Beijing Surgerii Robot Co., Ltd., the Surgerii single-port surgical robot that took the lead in this surgery is a single-port surgical robot independently developed and produced by the Chinese team. This single-port surgical robot has 4 snake-shaped surgical arms, further combining the flexibility of the human hand and the minimally invasive advantage of the laparoscopic system, and can complete more accurate operations in a narrow space.

The patient who received this remote surgical treatment is a 4-year-old child. Due to suffering from chronic appendicitis, he has long been troubled by infection and abdominal pain. If not handled in time, it will continue to worsen, and in severe cases, it may form perforation and even endanger life.

During the surgery, Professor Wen Zhe, on the single-port surgical robot console of the Zengcheng District of the Women and Children's Medical Center of Guangzhou Medical University, through the 3D display and the main controller, saw the situation in the patient's abdominal cavity in real time, controlled the surgical robot's mechanical arm to complete operations such as establishing a passage, separating adhesions, clearing abscesses and removing the appendix. With the cooperation of pediatric surgery experts such as Professor He Qiuming and Director Ouyang Yu in Liuzhou, Guangxi, the surgery was successfully completed, and the entire surgical process was stable and orderly, and the vital signs of the child remained stable throughout.
