WeChat Payment Now Available on Macau Buses, with Details on Fare and Electronic Payment Channels

TapTechNews September 24th news, according to the announcement of the Macau Special Administrative Region government, from now on, Macau buses officially support WeChat payment for fares, including both WeChat (Mainland China version) and WeChat (overseas version). The ride code (search for Ride Code in the WeChat mini-program) can be used to scan the code for boarding.

In terms of price, each ride costs 6 MOP (6 Macau patacas, approximately equivalent to 0.6956 US dollars), and there is no transfer discount.

The Macau government said that nowadays nearly 92% of the fare income of Macau public buses comes from electronic payment channels, including Macau Pass card, Gathered Easy Use+, UnionPay QuickPass (Macau users), Alipay (Mainland China and Hong Kong, China) two versions, etc.

TapTechNews noticed that WeChat Palm Scan was also launched in the Macau Special Administrative Region previously, opening more than 60 scan points covering places such as Wave Pool, Galaxy Hotel & Broadway, StarWorld Hotel, etc.
